Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant graced the 6th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Goa at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda, on Sunday.
In his address on the day celebrating the academic accomplishments of 174 graduates from the B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. programs; the Chief Minister emphasised the role of the premier technology institute towards Viksit Bharat 2047 goal. Also asserting equal commitment towards Viksit Goa 2037 target, Dr Sawant said: “IIT Goa will be a vital partner in the journey through research, innovation, entrepreneurship and nation-building.”
The occasion was virtually graced by Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, Government of India. The event was presided over by Adil Siraj Zainulbhai, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT Goa.
Prof. Dhirendra S. Katti, Director of IIT Goa, presented the Director’s Report outlining the achievements of the institute and its students during the academic year 2024–25. The ceremony featured the award of degrees and medals for academic excellence, marking a proud milestone in the lives of IIT Goa graduates.
The Chief Minister also hailed the vibrant atmosphere among IIT Goa students through events like students parliament and sports; and also complimented the Institute’s outreach towards schools with the endeavour to familiarise the young children with drone technology and AI.
