2-DAY ‘BUYER SELLER MEET 2025’ AT RAVINDRA BHAVAN SANKHALI

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated a ‘Buyer Seller Meet 2025’ at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali. The two-day meet has been organised by Directorate of Agriculture in association with Agricultural Technology Management Agency, North and Agriculture Office, Sankhali.

Dr Sawant showered praises on the Goa State Horticulture Corporation for their pro-farmer measures like the assured price. He also urged farmers to get inspired from Krishna Sinari of Amona, as he has been progressing impressively. The Chief Minister urged cooperative societies to venture into Agriculture sector and called on people to cultivate the neglected land that were used for farming in the past.

Dr Sawant also released a documentary ‘Mati Boltil Tewhach Sheti Fultil,’ produced by the Department of Agriculture, highlighting the importance of soil testing.

“The Swayampurna Goa initiative has led to a 30% reduction in horticultural imports while significantly increasing the income of Goan farmers,” highlighted the Chief Minister.

“The Government of Goa remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering farmers-providing training, ensuring fair pricing for their produce and facilitating technological advancements. To further strengthen organic farming in the state, we will implement an ₹18 crore project with the support of the Union Government,” asserted Dr Sawant.

Dr Sawant urged all farmers to take full advantage of the various schemes and subsidies offered by both the Union and State Governments to boost agricultural and horticultural production to realise the vision of a Swayampurna and Viksit Goa.

Mayem MLA and Chairman of Goa State Horticulture Corporation, Premendra Vishnu Shet; Siddhi Prabhu, Chairperson of Sankhali Municipal Council; Vijayakumar Natekar, Chairperson, Bicholim Municipal Council; Shankar Chodankar, President, North Goa ZP; Gopal Surlikar and Mahesh Sawant, ZP Members, Sandeep Phaldesai, Director, Directorate of Agriculture; Chandrahas Desai, Managing Director, Goa State Horticulture Corporation, were present on the occasion.
