Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in collaboration with the Government of Goa, has announced a ‘Aakash Kandil’ competition as part of the 55th International Film Festival of India 2024 (IFFI). The initiative will celebrate Goa’s rich cultural heritage, fostering creativity and community spirit through a stunning showcase of traditional and innovative lantern designs.
The competition is open to all residents of Goa. However, only 50 Aakash Kandils will be allowed per taluka, in the competition on first come-first served basis. The competition will have a total entries of 600 lanterns.
Each participant will receive Rs 500 while submitting entry into the competition as a token of appreciation for their effort and creativity. The last date to submit an entry is by 22nd November, 10:00 am at ESG Promenade, ESG.
Participants may use any material except thermocol, promoting environmentally friendly creations. Top-3 ‘Aakash Kandil’ makers will be chosen from each taluka, and they will be awarded cash prizes. For registration and additional information, use the IFFI helpline at 0832-6741717.
