Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP)-supported Jan Aushadhi Kendras, are being promoted as an excellent opportunity for self-employment.
As a scheme of the Union Government’s Department of Pharmaceuticals, Jan Aushadhi Kendras all over India including Goa, sell quality medicines at very affordable prices, states a pamphlet distributed at the 5th ‘Jan Aushadhi Diwas’ observed by the Department of Health Services in Panaji today. The senior beneficiaries of the PMBJP, were also felicitated.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, FDA Director Jyoti Sardesai and Health Services director Dr. Geeta Kakodkar graced the occasion.
Addressing the gathering Dr Sawant and Rane declared government’s will to promote Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the state and even in PHCs and District Hospitals. In her keynote address, Sardesai highlighted the quality of the generic medicines to be of highest standards as they are tested at NABL-accredited laboratories and are manufactured by WHO GMP-certified companies. She also informed that the doctors have been asked to prescribe generic medicines, which are said to be safe, effective and same in quality like branded drugs.
Meanwhile an entrepreneur under the scheme gets an incentive up to Rs 5 lakh @ 15 per cent of monthly purchases made subject to the ceiling of Rs 15,000 per month. In addition, one time incentive of Rs 2 Lakh is also provided. Details can be obtained from 8788923589.
