‘Bhau Aathvancha Parijat’, a book in Marathi on the the first Chief Minister of Goa, Late Dayanand Bandodkar; and written by his youngest daughter Jyoti Bandekar, will be released on Sunday, March 12 at the International Centre Goa at 10.30 am.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will be the chief guest and Somnath Komarpant, renowned writer, will be the guest of honour for the event.
Ahead of the book release, Jyoti Bandekar said: “I used to write poetry and articles on my father, Bhausaheb as a school girl. These creative outpourings were appreciated by the family. It is this distinct and happy memory that has provided me with the inspiration to write this book.”
According to Bandekar, a lot has been written about her late father and his political life, but very little has appeared in print about his personal and social life. “This book is an attempt to write about Bhausaheb’s personal and social life through the many memorable anecdotes and incidents that I remember. I am sure readers will like this book,” she said.
Bandekar, the youngest sister of Late Sashikala Kakodkar – the first woman Chief Minister of Goa; is a Vasco-based entrepreneur, former chairperson and director on the board of Citizen Cooperative Bank for 30 years and head of multiple businesses.
A trained classical singer and artist, Bandekar has contributed significantly to the social, cultural and educational sectors in Goa, states a press release.
