The International Purple Fest Goa – 2024, a six-day event scheduled from January 8 to 13, is set to conduct the ‘Identification and Distribution of Assistive Devices Camp’. It is being organised as part of the Assistance To Divyangjan For Purchase/Fitting of Aids/Appliances (ADIP) Schemes.
The camp aims to cater to the needs of individuals with disabilities by providing them with essential assistive devices. Access to these benefits requires possessing an Income Certificate, with eligibility criteria including a monthly income not exceeding Rs. 22,500 from all sources. The combined income of parents or guardians must also fall within this limit in case of dependents.
Addressing a press conference, MLA-Curtorim, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco stressed the aim to support children with disabilities by supplying them with essential equipment, including devices for vision and hearing. “Each constituency targets a minimum of 50 individuals. We encourage everyone to participate in this initiative to provide the necessary equipment.”
Lourenco added that the focus remains on those with a 40% disability certificate and a minimum monthly income of 22,500. “This criterion ensures broad coverage within the population.”
Also present Minister for Social Welfare, Subhash Phal Dessai, announced the commencement of beneficiary screening starting January 8. “The six-day process plans to screen 350 people daily, requiring a Disability Certificate indicating a minimum 40% disability, an Income Certificate, and a valid Photo ID (e.g., Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card) for eligibility,” he informed.
Dessai urged all MLAs to join the screening with their beneficiaries, facilitating better communication and engagement in various activities.
As part of the preparatory measures, Village Panchayat Secretaries have been called upon to be present at the screening venue at Dayanand Bandodkar Ground, Campal, Panaji. Also, they are authorised to issue temporary Income Certificates specifically for accessing benefits within the ADIP scheme.
