TEACHERS DAY: CHIEF MINISTER’S VASHISHTHA GURU PURASKAR 2024 PRESENTED, NATIONAL AWARD FOR GOAN TEACHER CHANDRALEKHA

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant presented the Chief Minister’s Vashishtha Guru Puraskar 2024 on the occasion of 63rd Teachers Day celebration in tribute to the former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Dr Sawant hailed the teachers’ efforts, saying: “I commend the dedication and tireless efforts of our educators in shaping and nurturing the future of our students, ensuring they are well-prepared for a bright and promising tomorrow. With the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, we are witnessing a significant transformation in our education system, and teachers will continue to play an indispensable role in its successful realization within the state.

“The Government of Goa remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the educational infrastructure, ensuring that teachers, students, and all stakeholders benefit from a robust system that fosters a skilled and knowledgeable workforce, contributing to the vision of Swayampurna Goa and a Viksit Bharat.”

The Chief Minister congratulated the award-winning teachers, namely: Mahesh Kashalkar and Pratima Prakash Prabhu Gaonkar (Primary Teacher category), Tukaram Naik and Jyoti Venkatesh Sinari  (Secondary Teacher category), Shirishkumar Amshekar (High School Headmaster category), Shirish Bhide (Higher Secondary Teacher category), and Vitthal Parsekar (Higher Secondary Principal category).

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu conferred National Award on to Chandralekha Damodar Mestri at a function held in New Delhi on Teachers Day.

Mestri is a dedicated teacher at Satyawati Soiru Angle Higher Secondary School, South Goa; and has received the national award for her Botanical Garden initiative.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant congratulated the national awardee teacher, stating: “Her achievement and effort to foster a love for nature and learning among her students shall definitely inspire other teachers to strive for excellence in innovative teaching practices and nurturing young minds.”
