The female labour force participation in India, has shown a remarkable increase particularly in rural areas between 2017-18 and 2022-23, states a study ‘Female Labour Force Participation Rate: An Observational Analysis of the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS)’ by Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (eacpm.gov.in/wp-content/upl…).
The initiatives and programmes implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been at the core of the progress achieved in the female labour force domain.
The rise can be attributed to various government initiatives over the last decade, many of which have specifically targeted rural women. Key programmes include Mudra loans, the “Drone Didi” scheme, and the mobilization of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, among other significant efforts. It is furthering the efforts with mission to create ‘Lakhpati Didi’ across the nation.
“The Government of Goa is complementing these efforts under various initiatives under the flagship programme of Swayampurna Goa with the Chief Minister’s Rojgar Yojana, the Goa State Incentive to Encourage Investment Scheme, the creation of GoVan brand, the Kunbi textile village among others. With the comprehensive efforts of Public and Private initiatives India shall pick the fast pace to increase female labour force participation for the vision of ViksitBharat2047,” stated Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
