Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant emphasised the commitment of the government to set up a robust sports ecosystem and as such, the provision in the budget to launch 12 Khelo Goa Centres across the state. The first two centres have been launched in Ponda and at Sanquelim (Bicholim taluka), in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Archery and Volleyball; under the aegis of Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs.
“As part of our commitment to fostering a robust sports ecosystem, we allocated provisions in the budget to establish 12 Khelo Goa Centers across the state. Today marks the launch of the first two centers, with the remaining set to be inaugurated in the next financial year. These centers are inspired by the successful model of @kheloindia Centers, envisioned under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji,” the Chief Minister posted on X.
“I am confident that these centers will play a pivotal role in strengthening the sports culture of Goa and nurturing champions at the state, national, and international levels in the years to come,” he added.
