Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) is boosting the empowerment of women with various schemes and now the new initiatives are set to broaden the horizon. There are 3250 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state with the banks having disbursed them financial assistance via loans of Rs. 312 Crore. Making the initiative successful, the SHGs have developed & operated 480 Brands under GSRLM.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who chaired a meeting of GSRLM in the presence of RDA Minister Govind Gaude; Chief Secretary, Officials, representatives of NABARD; expressed happiness, saying: “I am happy to note that the SHGs have contributed to various initiatives like planting 12,000 trees under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ and approved setting up of a Supermarket for sale of SHG products through NRLM.”
The Chief Minister stated that Goa houses 3250 SHGs in the state, with a disbursed revolving fund of Rs.8.28 Crore. The schemes are implemented with funds allocated according to 60% from Union Government & 40% from the state, formula.
During the meeting, there was discussion on increasing the number of SHGs by around 300-400 in state, digitising of records of SHG with e-Bookkeepers.
“We have extended the target for Lakhpati Didi to 17,000 women, for which 17331 women SHG members have been identified. It is suggested that SHG members should be covered with accident death insurance. 141 members have been registered as Bima Sakhi to implement vision of ‘Insurance for All’. 141 SHGs have been employed under the Mukhya Mantri Annapurna Yojana operating 9 canteens,” informed the Chief Minister.
“The Government of Goa & GSRLM is committed to implement all the schemes including Namo Drone Didi & others under Umbrella scheme of Lakhpati Didi in the state for the all round development of women & rural households in the state,” summed the Chief Minister.
