START THINKING ABOUT ENTREPRENEURSHIP FROM START OF COLLEGE, CHIEF MINISTER DR PRAMOD SAWANT’S ADVICE TO STUDENTS ON WORLD MSME DAY

Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant praised the Goan entrepreneurs for raising the bar as the MSME sector prospers in the state; and inspired young students to condition their minds beyond job targets and towards entrepreneurship.

The Chief Minister graced the celebration of World MSME Day 2025 on the theme “Empowering MSME for a Sustainable and Digital Future” organised by Directorate of Industries,Trade and Commerce, Government of Goa at IMB, Panaji.

Elaborating on the vision behind the grand celebration of the day, the Chief Minister stated that the students should absorb the entrepreneurship message and build on it as they move ahead in their college life. And by the time they graduate from the college, they will exactly know their business area. “This is an opportunity for you people to become entrepreneurs,” he underlined.

Emphasising on the state’s MSME landscape, Dr Sawant said: “Uptill 2025, 70 thousand MSMEs have been registered in Goa on the UDYAM portal. Not all may be successful but at least they dreamt of becoming entrepreneurs. The Government on its part are providing support or handholding via initiatives like RAMP or agency like EDII.”

Industries Minister, Mauvin Godinho; Secretary (Industries), Suneel Anchipaka, IAS,  Director, Industries, Asvin Chandru, IAS,  Chairman, ASSOCHAM Goa Council, Manguirish Pai Raikar, GCCI Chairperson Pratima Dhond were also present.

Raika & Co, Nitai Home Decor, and The Sustainable Green Company were awarded by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry for leading the charge of Goa’s MSME sector.

A panel discussion featuring high-ranking officials from EDC Limited, NABARD, Startup Promotion Cell of Government of Goa, and SIDBI; shed light on various initiatives that support the MSME sector.
