A special awareness program on the theme “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” was organised today at Viscount High School, Pernem. The event was conducted under the joint initiative of the Pernem Taluka Services Committee in co-ordination with the North Goa District Legal Services Authority, Panaji.
The program aimed at spreading legal awareness among students, especially on issues related to child rights, the POCSO Act, and gender justice. A special talk was delivered by Adv. Prasad Shahapurkar, Advocate Sameer Sawal Desai, and Advocate Murari Parab, who emphasised the importance of empowering girls through education and legal protection.
The event was graced by Headmaster Rajendra Bondre, Tara Hadfadkar (Panch Member, Mandrem Village Panchayat), Mamata Naik (Para Legal Volunteer), and Ankush Jadhav (Court Staff).
The initiative received enthusiastic participation from the students and faculty, reinforcing the message of gender equality and child safety as part of a larger social responsibility.
