Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, and Water Resources Development Minister, Subhash Shirodkar felicitated the scientists of ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CCARI), Goa, for being honoured with the national recognition in Agricultural Sciences-Rashtriya Krishi Vigyan Puraskar 2025.
The felicitation ceremony took place at the Goa Legislative Assembly Complex, Porvorim, in the esteemed presence of Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldessai, Secretary (Agriculture), Government of Goa, Arun Kumar Mishra, IAS and others.
The award was conferred by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), DARE, Government of India. The award was presented by Union Minister of Agriculture, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, during the 97th ICAR Foundation Day celebrations held on July 16, 2025, in New Delhi.
ICAR-CCARI received this honour in the category of Outstanding Inter-Disciplinary Team Research in Agriculture, Agricultural Education, Extension, and Allied Sciences for its innovative initiative, “Building Coastal Climate Resilience through Integrated Farming Systems and Agro-Ecotourism.”
This pioneering concept was led by Dr. Parveen Kumar, Director of ICAR-CCARI, and co-developed by senior scientists Dr. Manohara K. K., Dr. R. Solomon Rajkumar, Dr. Gopal Ramdas Mahajan, Dr. Sreekanth G. B., and Dr. Paramesha V.
The project integrates science-driven farming solutions with agro-ecotourism to enhance climate resilience, farm profitability, and community empowerment in vulnerable coastal regions.
The recognition reflects ICAR-CCARI’s ongoing commitment to sustainable agricultural innovation and positions Goa as a leader in climate-smart coastal agriculture.
