Young athletes from Academy of Combat Sports, Goa, spearheaded by international martial art athlete Erica J. de Sequeira put up a promising performance at the National Kickboxing Championship 2025 in Chennai; where Erica went on to notch up a bronze medal.

More than 1500 athletes from across India came together to compete in one of the most prestigious martial arts events in the country.

One of the standout performances came from Erica J. de Sequeira, who earned a bronze medal in the Kick Light (Full Contact Sparring) category. She fought fiercely in Point Fight sparring, losing only by a very narrow margin in a close match.
She also competed in Musical Forms, standing strong in a category that had 23 top national-level participants.

Erica’s medal marks the first-ever national medal for the Kadamba Plateau-based academy in kickboxing – a milestone that will inspire many young practitioners in Goa to follow her path.

Amongst others, Giovanna L. Sequeira battled in a tough division in the Point Fight Sparring event. Facing a highly competitive group of 23 athletes, she put up a commendable performance, gaining invaluable experience on the national stage. Her determination and courage were evident throughout her bouts, and she showed the qualities of a true martial artist.

Veda Chandan Priolker fought with heart in the children’s category. She faced a challenging pool of 13 athletes in Point Fight sparring. Despite a tough match, Veda demonstrated strong basics, quick learning ability, and an unshakable fighting spirit. For a young competitor, this exposure to national-level competition is an important stepping stone toward future success.

Coach Raunak Singh (Ronny) guided the team and also served as the official representative from Goa at the National Kickboxing Championship in Chennai. His experience, technical knowledge, and leadership played a vital role in preparing the athletes in a short span of time and ensuring that Goa was represented with pride at this national platform.

The press release by ACS Goa further said that the championship was more than medals – it was about testing our skills, learning from every bout, and gaining confidence to compete at higher levels. With only 15 days of training before stepping into the nationals, our athletes proved that dedication and perseverance can bring outstanding results.

“I am extremely proud of my athletes. With minimal preparation time, they have shown extraordinary heart and courage at the national level. This is just the beginning – we will return stronger, more prepared, and ready to bring more glory to Goa,” emphasised coach Ronny.
