HIKE IN COMPENSATION IN HUMAN–WILDLIFE CONFLICT CASES

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant announced the hike in compensation in human–wildlife conflict cases.

The Chief Minister chaired the meeting of the State Board for Wildlife (SBWL), Goa in Panaji today in the presence of Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane, GFDC Chairman & MLA Dr. Deviya Rane, Chief Secretary, PCCF (Wildlife & Eco-tourism), senior officials, and other members of the Board.

“A key decision was to enhance compensation in human–wildlife conflict cases, ensuring better support for affected families. The revised compensation now stands at ₹15 lakh for loss of life, ₹7.5 lakh for permanent disability, ₹2 lakh for grievous injury or partial disability, and ₹50,000 for minor injury.

“The Government of Goa remains committed to conserving wildlife while balancing developmental needs and safeguarding the welfare of our citizens,” stated Dr Sawant.
