To promote hands-on learning and capacity building in emerging technologies, the Goa Information Technology Development Corporation (GITDC), in association with the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), has begun trial training sessions in 3D printing technology. The first session was held on November 21, 2025, at the Additive Manufacturing Hub, Altinho.
The inaugural session was graced by Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director of DITE&C, Dr Milind Sakhardande, Joint Director DITE&C and Subrai Nadkarni, Chief Engineer, GITDC. The training was conducted by Ryan Vaz of Infinyt3D Pvt. Ltd with around twelve participants from GITDC.
The session offered hands-on training in 3D modeling and design, introducing participants to the use of 3D pens, the basic concepts of 3D technology. It included a series of presentations explaining both theoretical and practical aspects of the technology. All participants receive an Elementary 3D Printing certificate upon completion of the training.
Speaking about the skilling initiative, Kabir Shirgaonkar, Director of DITE&C, said, “This training programme is an important step in equipping our government workforce with skills required for the future. By introducing them to advanced tools like 3D printing, we can leverage the technology for practical applications in different departments and improve public services.”
This initiative, under the leadership of Rohan Khaunte, Minister of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, aims to enhance the technical competencies of government officers through a structured three-module training program (beginner, intermediate and advanced levels) covering the full spectrum of 3D printing applications, from basic design to advanced prototyping.
As part of this effort, a dedicated 3D Printing Bureau is being established to undertake design and printing assignments for various government departments.The next training session will be organised for government officials through the Department of ITE&C, based on the availability of participants; stated a press release.
