Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has revealed that Coding & Robotics Education in Schools (CARES) Scheme has been extended for three years under the Directorate of Technical Education.

The Chief Minister chaired the 6th Empowered Committee Meeting of the CARES Scheme. The meeting reviewed the strong progress of CARES in transforming school education through technology, innovation, and measurable learning outcomes.

Other key decisions:
•PMU–CARES to be incorporated as a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under Government Corporations to commercialize innovative STEAM ed-tech solutions
•One-year extension approved for Teach for Goa Fellows, Training Officer, and R&D Officer
•One-year AMC approved for maintenance of ICT laboratories, including Single Board Computers and Wi-Fi routers supplied under CARES.
•Approval to float EoI for establishing Centres of Excellence (CoE) and Whiz Kid Learning Spaces—initially one in each district, in line with the Goa Budget 2025 announcement.
•‘CARES Goa – Open Tech Day’ to be organized as a Tech Expo & Hackathon, showcasing innovation, talent, and student-led solutions.

The Empowered Committee acknowledged CARES’ measurable impact on Maths and Science learning outcomes, as evidenced by the PARAKH 2024 Report. Adding to this achievement, 54 CARES-mentored students featured in the Top 100 of the BEBRAS International Computational Thinking Challenge 2025, competing among over five lakh students nationwide-a proud moment for Goa.

Dr. Sawant expressed satisfaction, saying: “Happy to note that PMU–CARES has received national recognition with the SKOCH Gold Award and the Best Entry Award. CARES continues to position Goa at the forefront of future-ready education, innovation, and global competitiveness.”
