Governor, Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju attended the 16th State-Level #NationalVotersDay function held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda; organised by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Goa, in co-ordination with District Administration South Goa.
This year National Voter’s Day theme is “My India, My Vote, with the tagline ‘Citizen at the Heart of Indian Democracy’. The theme provides a unifying message for voter outreach and communication.
Chief Secretary, Dr. V. Candavelou, IAS, State Election Commission, Goa, Menino D’Souza, IAS (Retd.), CEO Goa, Dr Sanjay Goel IAS, the Collector/District Election Officer of South Goa, Egna Cleetus, IAS and others were also present.
Meanwhile, the North Goa District Election office celebrated National Voters Day at the district-level function held at S Z Qasim auditorium, NIO Dona Paula to commemorate the foundation of the Election Commission of India.
The event was inaugurated by Collector (North Goa), Ankit Yadav, IAS and was also attended by District Nodal Officer for SVEEP Dr. Gervasio Mendes, Additional collectors, Deputy collectors, District election icons, EROs, AEROs, BLOs, election staff, students and citizens.
As part of the program EPIC cards were presented to the new voters who have recently attained the age of 18 welcoming them to the electoral family.
Awards were given to best performing ERO, AERO, BLO and election staff in recognition of there service. Further, a voters’ pledge was also taken by everyone present to exercise their right to vote and strengthen the democratic fabric of the nation.
