In a heart-warming celebration of hope, courage and compassion, The Joy Factory, a special initiative jointly undertaken by Goa Cancer Society and YUVA Panaji, successfully fulfilled the wishes of 16 young cancer warriors undergoing treatment across Goa.
The initiative was designed to bring joy and encouragement to children battling cancer by understanding their individual wishes and making them a reality. Over the past month, volunteers from YUVA Panaji travelled extensively across Goa—from Vasco to Karanzol in Valpoi—meeting children and their families, spending time with them, understanding their aspirations and working tirelessly to fulfil them.
The programme was held in the presence of Pallavi Dempo along with Tanmay Kholkar, Dr. Suresh Shetye, Dr. Mahesh Naik, Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Dilip Salgaocar, Dr. Pramod Salgaocar, CA Satish Dhume, Andrea Maganlal, Dr. Sitakant Ghanekar, Dr. Anupama Borkar, Dr. Vaishali Joshi, Nitin Adarkar, who appreciated the efforts undertaken through the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Goa State Youth Awardee and YUVA Panaji Founder Raghuvir Mahale expressed gratitude to the organisation’s “Happiness Volunteers” for their dedication and commitment.
He said, “Our volunteers visited each child personally, spent quality time with them, understood their likes and dreams, and worked towards fulfilling them. What makes this achievement special is that the entire exercise was completed within just one month. The smiles on the faces of these young warriors and their families make every effort worthwhile,” Mahale said. He also thanked Sandip Naik for the opportunity that gave birth to The Joy Factory.
Representatives of the Goa Cancer Society appreciated YUVA Panaji for proactively taking up the initiative and successfully implementing it within a short span of time. They lauded the organisation’s commitment towards supporting children and families facing challenging circumstances.
Mahale further stated that The Joy Factory is an ongoing initiative and that efforts are currently underway to fulfil several other wishes expressed by children. While some have wished to meet eminent personalities, others aspire to spend a day as public servants, police officers and professionals, with arrangements being actively pursued by the YUVA team.
Parents of the young beneficiaries expressed heartfelt appreciation for the initiative, stating that such thoughtful gestures provide emotional strength, motivation and happiness to their children during difficult times.
The Joy Factory stands as a testament to the power of community service, compassion and collective effort in bringing hope and happiness to children bravely fighting cancer.
