According to Former Judge – Supreme Court of India Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre, Goa has the potential to become the First state of India with Zero Fatalities due to Road Accidents. Sapre, who is Chairman of Supreme Court Committee on Road safety, made the statement at a review meeting on Road Safety Scenario in Goa.

Chaurasia, IPS Inspector General of Police Goa, Ankit Yadav, IAS, Collector North Goa, Egna Cleetus, IAS, Collector South Goa & Kushawati District Arvind Khutkar, Director of Transport.
Maheshkumar Shambhu, Secretary Transport made a detailed presentation on the Road safety Scenario and Road safety measures implemented in the State of Goa.
Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre in his address elaborated that the need and purpose of formation of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety is to reduce the number of road accidents, further reduce the number of fatalities to zero and save precious lives. Justice Sapre stated that Goa has the potential to become the First state of India with Zero Fatalities due to Road Accidents. He appealed all the officials to coordinate and work together to achieve the objectives to achieve a Zero fatality due to road accident target and make Goa an exemplary state to be the first State with Zero fatality in Road Accidents. Justice Sapre also appealed to all the members of the public to use proper safety gear while driving and also to follow and obey the traffic rules strictly.
Justice Sapre made vibrant suggestions and possible intervention to achieve this Target of Zero Fatality in Road accidents. He emphasized that the use AI- enabled traffic management systems as are prevailing in some of the developed countries must be implemented in the state of Goa to reduce the number of accidents and also the number of accidental deaths.
Bandopadhyaya, Member of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety instructed that the i-RAD and e-DAR platforms launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways should be used for tracking data related to accidents which will further help in devising the best methodology, strategy and possible interventions for preventing accidents.
Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre expressed his pleasure with the Response time of Ambulances working the state through Health Department and instructed them to improvise further on the response time so that the accident victims are provided the best possible medical help in the Golden Hour.
The Chief Secretary also instructed all members present to coordinate and work together to achieve the set goal of reducing the road accidents, reducing the fatalities due to road accidents and make Goa the First State with Zero Fatalities due to Road Accidents.
