FC Goa on Wednesday, announced the signing of Argentine attacking midfielder Francisco Feuillassier Abalo, popularly known as Franchu, ahead of the 2026–27 season. The 28-year-old joins the Gaurs with a wealth of experience, having featured across Spain’s football pyramid before making the move to the Indian Super League.
Comfortable as an attacking midfielder or on either wing, Franchu is renowned for his creativity, close control, technical quality, and ability to unlock defences in the final third.
A product of the Real Madrid set-up, Franchu developed his game in Spain before enjoying spells with clubs including Rayo Vallecano, Eibar, Cartagena, and Castellón. His experience across highly competitive environments has shaped him into a dynamic
and versatile attacking player capable of influencing matches in multiple roles.
Commenting on Franchu’s arrival, Lokesh Bherwani, Director of Football, FC Goa, said: “Franchu is a player who brings quality, experience, and personality to our squad. His ability to create chances, influence games, and perform in multiple attacking roles gives us added depth and flexibility. Head Coach Gouramangi Singh added: “We had the opportunity to see glimpses of his quality last season, and it was clear that he has the ability to make a real impact. Beyond his footballing qualities, he’s a team player and a natural leader who raises the standards of those around him every day in training.”
Speaking after completing his move, Franchu said: “I’m excited about this new challenge. I’m ready to give my best and help FC Goa achieve its objectives.”
Franchu’s arrival further strengthens FC Goa’s attacking options as the Club prepares for the upcoming campaign. His vision, flair, and versatility are expected to add a new dimension to the Gaurs’ style of play.
