Churchill Brothers Football Club has shared its delight affer its inclusion in the Indian Super League for the 2026–27 season, “bringing one of Goa’s most historic and successful football clubs back to the national stage after 14 long years.”
In a press communique, the Varca-based club stated: “After becoming champions of India in 2012, a new league was born. But deep down, we always knew — we had to be back where we belong. The journey over these 14 years has not been easy. At a time when many began to question the future of Goan football, and some even felt there was no hope left, we chose to believe otherwise.
“For over four-and-a-half decades, Churchill Brothers has been part of the fabric of Indian football. Our President, Churchill Alemao, has never stopped believing in this club and in Goa, while our CEO, Valanka Alemao, has fought tirelessly through every challenge, on and off the pitch. We never gave up. We never stopped believing in our dreams.
“We would also like to sincerely thank the All India Football Federation for facilitating the transition and enabling Churchill Brothers FC to return to the national stage. We sincerely thank Tata Steel and Jamshedpur FC for trusting Churchill Brothers with this opportunity and for recognising the history, passion and commitment that has been built around this club over generations.
“We will be taking over the financial responsibilities of all the players and coaches presently with Jamshedpur FC and are willing to play for us. Thus, our intervention has given them a fresh lease of life. Our inclusion in the ISL is about more than football. It is about bringing back the fire, the competition, the rivalry and the pride that Goan football deserves. It is about giving the next generation of Goan footballers something to dream about and reminding everyone that Goan football still has a place at the very top of Indian football.
