Vidarbha strengthened their grip over Goa on the third day of their Group A Ranji Trophy Elite match on Wednesday, declaring their first innings at 442 for eight to take a massive 222-run lead. In reply, Goa reached 41 for one in their second innings at stumps, still trailing by 181 runs. Goa will have to bat through the entire fourth day to save the match.
Resuming at 217 for three, Vidarbha built on their strong position through a marathon innings by Dhruv Shorey, who scored 168. Captain Akshay Wadkar remained unbeaten on 63, while Danish Malewar, who was unbeaten on 51 overnight, added five more runs before falling for 56 to Ruthvik Naik.
Naik was Goa’s most successful bowler, claiming five wickets for 70 runs. Vasuki Koushik picked up two wickets, while Darshan Misal took one.
Goa suffered an early setback in their second innings when Nachiket Bhute bowled Suyash Prabhudessai for six. At stumps, Manthan Khutkar was unbeaten on 24 and captain Abhinav Tejrana on eight.

Goa left-arm spinner Darshan Misal has achieved a significant milestone by achieving the 200-wicket milestone in his Ranji Trophy career.
