PANAJI: Joy Kakodkar and Srilaxmi Kamat reigned supreme at the All-Goa U-14 Open and Girls state chess championships 2022, respectively.
Ethan Vaz, Sairaj Vernekar, Vivaan Ballikar, Ruthvik Raikar and Mayuresh Desai secured 2nd to 6th place respectively in the U-14 open category.
In the girls section – Shriya Patil, Shourya Pednekar, Vaishnavi Parab, Rachel Pereira and Arya Dabholkar secured 2nd to 6th place respectively.
The tournament was organised by Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA) under the auspices of Goa Chess Ad-Hoc Committee at Wagle High school, Mangeshi.
Arvind Mhamal was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament. A total of 140 children participated.
The other results are as follows: Best U-12: Aarth Karapurkar, Aiden Grao, Shrivalli Gandhi and Jennica Sequeira. Best U-10: Saras Powar, Macaire Gomes, Tanisha Dessai and Jensina Sequeira. Best U-8: Aaryavrat Desai, Joshua Telles, Skyla Rodrigues and Diya Naik. Best from Ponda taluka: Parth Kamat, Aryan Shirodkar, Prem Gaude, Avnish Borker, Sanskar Prabhu, Riddhi Gaude, Shrusti Shenvi, Pushti Bhonsle, Swara Gaonkar and Dhruvi Kurtikar.
Rajendra Desai was the chief guest and gave away the certificates and trophies in the presence of Sachin Arolkar (Convenor, Goa Chess Ad-Hoc committee), Sagar Sakordekar (President, P.T.C.A.), Amogh Namshiker (Secretary, P.T.C.A.) and Chief Arbiter, Arvind Mhamal. Archana Tendulkar compered and Amogh Namshiker proposed vote of thanks.
