Aaryavrat Rasiket Naik Desai topped the Open Category, while Saeeja Gunesh Dessai won the girls event at the Late Shri Dattaram Dhuri (Freedom fighter) Memorial Goa State U-13 Open and Girls championship/Selection 2024 organised by Bardez Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Association.
Saras Summer Powar finished second while Kanishk Sagar Sawant was placed third in the open category. Erwin Albuquerque, Chopdekar Aarav, Vihaan Tari, Atharva Atul Borkar, Joshua Mark Telles, Shirodker Arthav & Sachit Pai secured 4th to 10th place respectively.
In the girls category, Vaishnavi Vijay Parab was the runner-up while Lyia Marysil Silveira finished third in the girls category. Skyla Rodrigues, Rachel Pereira, Israa Rikarty, Sequeira Jennica, Diya Digamber Sawal, Siddhi Naik & Rodrigues Shinel secured 4th to 10th place respectively.
In U-11 Open category, Shaurya N Prabhu Agrasani and Shubh Vishnu Borkar finished first and second respectively. Gawas Rishit and Shrsth Suraj Ghonsekar were 1st & 2nd respectively in U-9 Category; Prayank Gaonkar and Evan Antonio Telles as 1st & 2nd respectively in U-7 category. Hriday Tukaram Morajkar & Raunak Lingudkar were awarded best Bardez players of the tournament. Aarush Naik Parulekar was awarded as the youngest player in Open Category.
In girls category events, Rochel Pereira & Diya Naik clinched 1st & 2nd prizes respectively in U-11 competition. Redkar Shanvi & Avani Sawaikar finished 1st & 2nd respectively in U 9 category; Rao Shivanya & Aaradhya Dessai were 1st & 2nd respectively in U-7 category. Aaradhya Rane & Krutika Aggarwal were awarded best Bardez players of the tournament; Swasti Nitin Morajkar & Yajwari Tukaram Shetye was awarded as youngest players.
