The All-India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, under the Ministry of Ayush; celebrated its 4th Foundation Day, with a high-profile workshop on the “Preparation of Integrative Protocol for Colorectal Carcinoma,” bringing together eminent experts to refine collaborative, evidence-informed pathways in integrative oncology.
Prof. (Vd.) P. K. Prajapati, Director of AIIA, Prof. Dr. Sujata Kadam, Dean of AIIA Goa; and Dr Vinayak Chakor, Dy. Medical Superintendent, briefed the media on the occasion.
AIIA Goa has achieved NABH accreditation, confirming its commitment to high standards of quality and safety. With this achievement and the addition of new facilities, the institute now operates with 25 OPDs, including Manasrog Chikitsa, De-addiction OPD, Swastha Rakshan OPD, Diabetes OPD, Casualty, Critical Care Unit, and other multidisciplinary units, reflecting its mission to blend classical Ayurvedic wisdom with modern scientific tools and technologies.
Prof Prajapati added that the 2nd WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine in New Delhi, with its strong emphasis on safety assessments, aims to further advance global acceptance of high-quality, evidence-based Ashwagandha products. The Summit is expected to shape a decade-long roadmap for the evidence-based, equitable, and sustainable integration of traditional, complementary, integrative, and Indigenous medicines into national health systems.
Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Kadam, Dean, AIIA Goa, stated that as part of the celebrations, the institute has inaugurated two new OPDs—Health Assessment Screening OPD and Dental OPD—along with the Kayachikitsa and Kaumarbhritya Panchakarma Theatres and an extension of the IPD, further strengthening its services for public health.
She added, Patient services have expanded significantly, with an average of 800+ OPD visitors per day, all receiving Ayurvedic medicines free of cost. Since inception, the hospital has recorded 5.25 lakh+ OPD footfall, 31,000+ IPD admissions, approximately 77,200 Panchakarma procedures, and 1,35,000 radiology and laboratory investigations.
As part of the Medical Value Travel initiative and efforts to promote Wellness Tourism, 233 foreign patients have visited AIIA Goa for OPD services, and 16 patients availed IPD care. Till date, the institute has conducted 40,400 health camps, including general, disease-specific, school health check-ups, and Suvarnaprashan camps.
On the academic front, the institute currently hosts four UG batches with an intake of 100 students each, totalling 400 students. The PG programme commenced in December 2024 with 20 scholars in subjects of Kriya Sharir, Samhita Siddhant, Agada Tantra, Rasashastra evam Bhaishajya Kalpana, and Rachana Sharir. This year, in November 2025, the institute welcomed 29 new PG scholars in subjects of Dravya Guna, Rog Nidan and Vikriti Vigyan, Kayachikitsa, Kaumarbhritya, and Panchakarma. Additionally, AIIA Goa offers a full-time Ayurveda Dietician Course (30 seats) and a Panchakarma Technician Course (10 seats).
AIIA Goa has established strategic partnerships with several reputed institutions to advance research, healthcare innovation, biodiversity conservation, and integrative medical services. The major collaborations include:
• Department of Tourism, Govt. of Goa to express the party’s mutual interest in exploring the potential opportunities for enhancement of Wellness and Medical Tourism landscape, marketing, promotion and development of Wellness Tourism involving AYUSH & other traditional medicines.
• CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography – to promote institutional linkage between CSIR-NIO & All India Institute of Ayurveda, Goa, and to explore other avenues for possible collaborations where expertise exists and can be monitored by either or both
• Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani, Goa – to govern the process of collaboration with each other for AIIA and BITS Researches & Students (Faculty) to work jointly on Projects (purpose) outlined in the detailed MoU and off shoots of these that may emerge organically.
• Goa State Biodiversity Board – for the purpose of conservation, sustainable use and documentation of biological diversity in the state of Goa.
• Goa Institute of Management – to promote healthcare innovation, provide collaborative research, consultancy, faculty exchange and development of academic programs with focus on Ayurvedic medicine, healthcare management and interdisciplinary studies.
• A triparty Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is entered between All India Institute of Ayurveda Goa, The Directorate of Health Services, Government of Goa and Advanced Centre for Treatment Research and Education in Cancer (ATREC), Tata Memorial Centre for collaborative arrangement at various levels including treatment, research and education, and their deployment for integrative cancer care.
AIIA Goa reaffirmed its commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research, continuing its journey toward becoming a global leader in integrative Ayurveda.
