ALMOST 2000 PLAYERS ON SHOW,  RS. 6 LAKHS PRIZE MONEY AT ALL-INDIA SUB-JUNIOR RANKING BADMINTON AT PEDDEM

Yonex – Sunrise All India Sub Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament 2024 is all set to kick off in Goa from May 10th May going up to 17th; at the Multipurpose Stadium, Peddem. Organised by the Goa Badminton Association under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India and in collaboration with Sports Authority of Goa, the tournament will be held over a period of 8 days. The qualifying matches will be held from May 10th to 13th, followed by the main draw from May 14th to May 17th, 2024. Semi-Final matches will be on May 16 and Finals will be on May 17. 

With close to 2000 players registering to showcase their skills, the tournament promises to be a spectacular display of badminton prowess. The event will feature the finest young talents from India competing in the Under-15 and Under-17 age categories across 10 events, including Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Rs. 6 Lakh is the total prize money for the tournament.

A dedicated team of 120 technical officials will oversee the proceedings throughout the eight-day event. Vivek Saraf from Maharashtra has been nominated by BAI as the Referee, supported by Deputy Referees Aniruddha Joshi and Debbrata Pau. Prabhakar Rao from Jharkhand is appointed as the Observer by BAI. Sandeep Heble takes on the role of Organising Secretary, with a team of newly elected GBA EC taking up various organisational responsibilities. 

Manoj Patil, President of the Goa Badminton Association, expressed his delight for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to host the Yonex Sunrise All India Sub Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament in Goa which has world-class facilities. The participation of India’s top young talents in this beautiful venue is a testament to the hard work put in by our association members. We extend our gratitude to the Government of Goa, Tourism Department, the Sports Authority of Goa, and various other agencies for their tremendous support. We are fully committed to ensuring a memorable and successful tournament for all participants.”

Praveen Shenoy, Secretary of the Goa Badminton Association, highlighted the tournament’s significance, saying, “The Tournament not only provides a platform for young players to showcase their skills but also serves as a pathway to the National Center of Excellence (NCE)- Guwahati. With participants from various parts of India, the highest being from Karnataka and Maharashtra, and a strong contingent from Goa, we anticipate intense competition and exciting matches. Aarush Pawaskar, Ritika Chelluri, Sufiya Shaikh and Shivanjali Thite are some of the players to watch out for from Goa. We encourage badminton enthusiasts to come and support these promising young athletes.”
