Department of Electronics, Department of Electronics & Instrumentation and Department of Science & Humanities of Government Polytechnic, Panaji, jointly organised an ‘induction’ programme on the subject of Astronomy, as per the guidelines of All India Council for Technical Education; at the institute auditorium on Friday.
Renowned astronomer Dr Vithal Tilvi delivered an engrossing lecture with the first and second-year Electronics students making up the audience.
Dr Tilvi, who created a world record back in 2013 by discovering the farthest galaxy in the Universe at 13 billion-lightyear away, apprised the students on various aspects of Astronomy and India’s Space programmes. He highlighted the need for research-based innovation and stoked curiosity to take up Engineering challenges to design products as per the needs of the Space environment.
