Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant launched the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) for senior citizens and also attended the Free Eye Check-Up Camp. The function was organised as part of the Seva Pakhwada at Mapusa today.
Bicholim MLA, Dr Chandrakant Shetye; Mapusa MLA, Joshua De Souza; MMC Chairperson, Nutan Bicholkar; BJP Goa Spokesperson Premanand Mahambare, Medical Cell Convenor, Dr. Shekhar Salkar were also present.
Under AB-PMJAY, senior citizens above the age of 70 are provided free health insurance of up to Rs. 5 lakh per family annually over and above all the existing health insurance schemes.
The Ayushman Bharat card will also allow the senior citizen to avail a cataract surgery free of cost, said the Chief Minister.
Dr. Sawant appreciated Vision Hospital’s service of free cataract surgeries to senior citizens above 70 under the Ayushman Bharat initiative.
“The Goa Government remains dedicated to the well-being of its elderly citizens and is committed to enhancing their quality of life through various healthcare programs under Ayushman Bharat and DDSSY, contributing to an improved happiness index for our senior population,” asserted the Chief Minister.
