PANAJI: Goa Table Tennis 2022-23 Season will kick-start with the Bambolim Beach Resort Cup Table Tennis League team championship that is expected to attract Goa’s top paddlers, on June 11 & 12 at Indoor stadium at Campal, here.
The two-day league will feature 10 ‘Corporate Teams’ who will battle it out for the championship prizes and trophies. The league will be organised by North Goa Table Tennis Development Council under the aegis of Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA) and the Sports Authority of Goa.
The competition will be held in an exciting best of 5 format, catering to all age groups. Ties will comprise of Junior Boys Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Singles, Mixed Doubles and Veteran’s Doubles.
“The idea of League is to generate increased interest in the sport and bring more visibility through a highly professional set-up and environment. The format is such that it will create a lot of passion and excitement in the sport besides a colourful atmosphere to the spectators. The long-term plan is to reach out to the younger generation and masses by organising more of such exciting events and to bring about a table tennis revolution in Goa,” stated Vero Nunes, GTTA President.
According to a press communique, players will be selected on the basis of their State Rankings and there will be no entry fee for them. The League winners stand to win Rs 25,000, followed by Rs 20,000, Rs 12,000 and Rs 8000 for runners-up, 3rd and 4th place teams respectively; besides a haul of medals and trophies.
