One of Goa’s most advanced Market complex has come up at Banastari, in Ponda Taluka. Built at a whopping cost of Rs 18 Crore, with majority of the funds from Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Government of Goa’s support; the Market complex is equipped with a sewage treatment plant and Cold Storage facility.
The Banastari Market has been known to people as a heritage traditional market with vendors from the state as well as neighbouring states occupying every inch of space along the roads to sell their produce at reasonable price. However, with the newly inaugurated complex having 60 shops, all such vendors will have to be accommodated in the complex and stop the trade along the road-side to facilitate smooth transport operations.
The Market complex has parking space for over 30 vehicles and 60 Two-Wheelers; and a community hall for people to host their functions.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurated the Market complex on Thursday evening. He declared that such an advanced facility will not be present at the Village Panchayat level anywhere in the country.
Union MoS for Tourism Shripad Naik, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, who is also the local MLA, Zilla Panchayat member Shramesh Bhosle, Village Panchayat members, were also present on the occasion.
