PANAJI: Bastora Boys reigned supreme at the 7th All-Goa 5-a-side Hockey Tournament organised by Young Sports Hockey Club-Mapusa, at Ribandar on Sunday. They defeated San Antonio Warriors-Guirim (A) 7-2 in a fast-paced final. In all, 10 teams participated in the league-cum knock-out one-day tourney.
San Antonio had an opportunity to go into the lead when they were awarded a penalty stroke which was brilliantly saved by Abban Sheikh of Bastora Boys. Soon after, Bastora took the lead and did not stop the goal-scoring spree.
Issub Sayyed scored a hat-trick, while Sahil Chari (2 goals), Suyash Mayekar and Sameer Yelgar (1 goal each) found the target for Bastora. Pandurang Sakhalkar and Rohit Bharti reduced the margin for Guirim.
Earlier in the semis, Bostora beat Young Sports Hockey Club-Mapusa (A) 4-0. In the other semis, San Antonio Warriors (A) got the better of their juniors San Antonio Warriors Guirim (B) 3-2.
Following individual prizes were awarded: Abban Sheikh (Bastora Boys) – Best Goalkeeper; Sahil Chari (Bastora Boys) – Player of the tournament; Gaurav Palyekar (San Antonio Warriors B) – Best Defender.
