Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant unveiled the ‘Geological and Mineral Map of Goa’ at the Goa State Geological Programing Board Meeting 2024, in the presence of Director of Mines and Geology and Board Members at Mantralaya, Porvorim.
The chief minister emphasised that the Government of Goa is committed to adopt new technologies, methods to ensure sustainable exploration and use of mineral resources in the state.
Dr Sawant also reviewed status of all the 9 auctioned mining blocks to ensure speedy clearances and resumption of mining activities.
“Discussions were held over exploration of mining leases to be funded through the National Mineral Exploration Trust (NMET), establishing a laboratory for mineral analysis. The laboratory will be equipped with advanced instruments procured through NMET funds.
“The Geological Survey of India to extend its support for preparing proposals to tap NMET proposals, geological reports for mineral blocks,” stated Dr Sawant on his social media ‘X’.
