Devesh Naik of Ponda Taluka Chess Association won the State Senior Chess Championship-cum-Selection Rated Tournament 2023.
Devesh, who remained undefeated in the tournament, scored 9 points in 9 rounds. He defeated Saras Powar in the 8th round while in the 9th round, he beat Chaitanya Gaonkar.
Mandar Lad finished second with a tally of 8 points. He beat Rajveer Patil and Shubh Borkar in the 7th & 8th round respectively. Aayush Shirodkar finished third with 6.5 points.
The other prize-winners from 4th to 15th are Chaitanya Gaonkar, Rishikesh Parab, Anish Naik, Saras Powar, Joshua Telles, Shubh Borkar, Rajveer Patil, Madhavan G, Ekka Aniket, Jenica Sequeira, Simplicio Viegas and Adarsh Patekar.
The top finishers – Devesh Naik, Mandar Lad, Aayush Shirodkar and Chaitanya Gaonkar have confirmed their entries for the National Senior Chess Championship to be held in Pune Maharashtra from 15th August, 2023.
