The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) organised a series of Academic Leadership programmes (ALP) for experienced faculty from Higher Education institutes in partnership with Goa Institute of Management (GIM), one of the eminent institutes of Goa. The primary aim was to prepare the senior faculty who aspire to meet the challenges of leading colleges by providing them with training in leadership and managerial skills.
Two ALP programmes have been successfully organised, one with Infosys Springboard at Mysore and the second series was held with Palindrome Enterprises at the Directorate of Accounts, Kautilya Lekha Bhavan, Porvorim – North Goa in November and December respectively.
The third series of this ALP was conducted between 5th to 7th February 2024 by Goa Institute of Management, based on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) & Learning Excellence.
Through a blend of interactive workshops, case studies, peer-to-peer learning, and hands-on activities, participants gained a deep understanding of Assurance of Learning (AoL) concepts and frameworks, Skill in designing and implementing effective AoL measures, Strategies for fostering student engagement in diverse learning environments, Knowledge of innovative learning service delivery models, Techniques for aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment with AoL goals.
Speaking at the Inaugural function, the Director of the Directorate of Higher Education said, “Participate in this enriched and curated programme wholeheartedly and contribute to the quality and growth of the Higher Education institutions.”
This academic leadership programme demonstrates its value as a strategic investment in equipping institutions for the future of education. Prasad Lolayekar, (IAS) Secretary Education at the valedictory function, said, “By enabling academic leaders with academic excellence, skills and efficient learning service delivery, it ensures that students not only acquire knowledge but also develop the essential abilities of critical thinking, problem-solving, and lifelong learning that are necessary today for Quality Education in HEIs”.
The resource GIM faculty were, Prof Ajit, Director GIM, Prof Arif , Prof Vishnu and Prof. Venkatesh. The co-ordinators of the Programme were, Prof (Dr.) Niyan Marchon, Vandana Naik from DHE and Prof. Venkatesh D. N. from GIM.
