PANAJI: Dr Devashish Bagchi will head the newly-formed Association of College Directors of Physical Education. Vice-Chancellor of Goa University, Prof Varun Sahni was the chief guest at the unveiling of the ACDOPEG committee recently.
Officiating Registrar, Prof Radhika Nayak released the ACDOPEG Newsletter ‘Trimester Buzz’.
Prof Varun Sahni in his address, expressed a concern about Goa lacking sports culture and also informed about Goa University’s plan of introducing Masters in Physical Education under Behavioural Science school. He appreciated the efforts taken by the association and assured all help in promoting sports in Goa University.
On this occasion, Dilip Salgaocar, MD, Geno Pharmaceuticals and a well-known sports
promoter, Brahmanand Shankhwalkar, former captain of Indian football team and Goa’s first Arjuna Awardee; Jovito Lopes, Sports Administrator, and Milton Fernandes, Asst. Director of Physical Education of
Goa University; were felicitated for their notable contribution in the field of sports in
Goa.
“The association has been formed to promote democratic functioning of the University Sports Section especially in terms of College Directors of Physical Education participation in decision-making processes and to encourage research, studies and dialogue on academic matters pertaining to Physical Education, Sports Sciences,” says the press note issued by ACDOPEG.
