Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) celebrated Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Grassroots Football Day on Monday.

GFDC organised a football festival across all its 37 centres as part of the 10th-anniversary celebrations of AFC Grassroots Football Day that were held by member associations all over Asia on May 15.

The centre-heads alongwith coaches conducted drills, work stations, SSG’s from 2V2 to 11V11, and other fun activities for GFDC trainees as part of the festival.

Consultative committee members as well as parents of the trainees attended the festival.

GFDC Chairman Brahmanand Shankhwalkar said: “The one-day festival was conducted as per the guidelines issued by the AFC. It was a joyous occasion to witness budding footballers along with their trainers and coaches as well as parents participate in the festival. As GFDC focusses on grassroots development, it was a nice initiative to commemorate the AFC Grassroots Football Day,”.

Member-Secretary, Deepesh Priolkar lauded the coaches and centre heads for organising such a celebratory atmosphere for the kids.

“Grassroots football plays an important role in trying to keep the sporting culture alive in children. On this day, children indulged in juggling, dribbling and small sided games,”said Priolkar.
