GOA AIMING TO BECOME HOLISTIC TOURISM HUB OF INDIA, SAYS CHIEF MINISTER DR. PRAMOD SAWANT

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant emphasised that Goa is aiming to become the ‘Holistic Tourism’ hub of the nation and is working towards becoming the model state for sustainable tourism.

The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the 54th Annual Convention of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI).  Union Minister for Tourism & Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat; Tourism & IT Minister,  Rohan Khaunte were also present.

Dr Sawant hailed the FHRAI convention’s theme of ‘Tourism@2047: Incredible to Inevitable India’ and thanked the organisers for choosing Goa to host the prestigious event that will shape the future of tourism. “The 54th Annual Convention of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India shall lay a robust foundation for the nation’s journey in tourism sector.”

Dr Sawant highlighted Goa’s contribution to the tourism industry in the nation, saying: “Goa has always been at the forefront of Indian tourism and welcomes millions of tourists every year. Our beach, heritage sites, festivals and hospitality have made Goa one of the top tourist destinations not only in India but across the globe. And now, we are expanding our tourism avenues to the hinterland areas of the state, while also offering the adventure and medical tourism for our visitors. We are aiming towards becoming the Holistic Tourism hub of the nation. We are working towards becoming the model state for sustainable tourism and we are guided by the draft national tourism policy 2023.”

The Chief Minister also pointed out that the state tourism policy stresses on central government agenda based on sustainability, digitalisation, infrastructure development, skill enhancement and employment generation.
