Goa Investment Promotion Board has approved 9 projects with an investment potential of Rs. 733 Crores and proposed employment of 2319 persons, revealed Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant.
Dr Sawant chaired the 38th Board Meeting of the Goa Investment Promotion Board in the presence of Industries, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, MLA & GIDC Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco; Dempo Group Chairman & GCCI Chairman Shrinivas Dempo and Board Members in Panaji today.
“The kind of projects approved include Pharmaceutical manufacturing, Warehousing, Machine tools manufacturing and Beverage manufacturing. The Government of Goa has granted industry status to Logistics sector under which M/s Express Machines and Scaffolding Pvt. Ltd. was duly approved by the Board to set up another large warehousing facility in he State,” informed the Chief Minister.
The projects include expansion by Procter & Gamble, under their subsidiary ‘Gillette Diversified Operations Pvt. Ltd & a project from Zydus Lifesciences Ltd. Both these projects are by MNCs who have chosen Goa as their manufacturing base over many other countries in the world.
One of the earlier approved eco-tourism project of the Board in Quepem region, which is now branded under Indian Hotels Corporation Ltd., was granted approval for expansion thereby showcasing the popularity of Goa both as industrial as well as tourism destination.
“Discussions took place on the restructuring of organisational structure, Goa IPB Land Bank among others,” stated the Chief Minister.
Dr Sawant directed the Board that Goans should be given preference in jobs in the state. “The investment proposals shows ever improving Ease of Doing Business in the state, and the Government of Goa is committed to strengthen it further for the vision of Viksit Goa,” stressed the Chief Minister.
