Goa is set to celebrate the 10th International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June, in a big way. While the state-level function will be held at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium at Taleigao Plateau, elaborate arrangements are being made for IDY 2024 programmes to be held across all talukas.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday, chaired a review meeting regarding the preparations for IDY 2024 which has a theme “Yog for Self & Society”. Briefing the media, the Chief Minister revealed that various Yoga-promoting organisations such as Art of Living, Brahma Kumaris, Tapo Bhoomi, Patanjali Yogpeeth and Ayush among others; will help the government with conduct of the programmes in the State. “If there is interest for the Yoga training to be continued, it can be done through the year. Yoga practice will help people to stay healthy,” emphasised Dr Sawant.
The Chief Minister also added that ‘Millets’ will also be promoted on the occasion with the government also planning to boost the consumption of the healthy grain via the Mid Day Meal scheme in the near future.
