Goa State Level Insurance Committee (SLIC) recently launched India’s first gamified road safety app, launched by Zuno General Insurance, a new-age digital insurer committed to making insurance easy, friendly, and innovative.
The app, which combines technology and engagement to make driving safer, rewards good driving behaviour, ranks participants on leaderboards and uses telematics to turn road safety into a fun, interactive experience, was launched at the Goa SLIC meeting in the presence of Dr V. Candavelou, chief secretary, Government of Goa and senior officials from state departments, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India and insurers to review progress and chart strategies for expanding insurance penetration across key sectors.
Zuno currently also supports the state’s road safety vision through multiple initiatives. Beyond launching its gamified road safety app, the new age digital insurer has worked with the Goa Transport Department to reduce uninsured vehicles by 7.6 percent, bringing numbers down from 5.83 lakh in May 2024 to 5.66 lakh in May 2025.
To improve accessibility, Zuno is also piloting camera-SMS-enabled instant motor policy issuance, ensuring quicker and more seamless coverage for vehicle owners.
Commenting on the initiatives, Pooja Yadav, Chief Product Officer, Zuno General Insurance, said: “We are proud that our initiatives, from instant motor insurance pilots to expanding coverage for migrant workers and MSMEs, are making meaningful contributions in Goa.
With our gamified road safety app, we are showing how technology can make safety engaging and accessible. We remain committed to working closely with the Goa Government and IRDAI on pilots like Bima Vahak, pooled fisheries cover, and parametric insurance to build a more resilient and inclusive insurance ecosystem.”
Zuno has already provided insurance coverage to 460 migrant workers across 32 associations and is working on a pooled insurance model to expand this to 3,000 workers at the Culbona jetty in South Goa.
At the grassroots level, Zuno has mapped 77 Panchayats for motor and property insurance and 51 Panchayats for health insurance, laying the foundation for rural insurance penetration. Plans are also underway for the rollout of Bima Vahak and Bima Vistar, bundled covers for life, health, property, and personal accident insurance, in partnership with Panchayat institutions and the Department of Women and Child Development.
Zuno has also contributed to driving a 14.1 percent increase in enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) in Goa, covering over 10.54 lakh lives as of March 2025. Awareness campaigns through SLBC meetings, Gram Panchayat camps, and rural literacy drives supported this achievement.
