PANAJI: Goa Technology Association (GTA) has termed the Union Budget 2022 a “Technology-driven and balanced budget showing commitment to building a Digital India.”
A statement by GTA, quoted it’s president, Milind Anvekar as saying: “This is a Technology driven budget. Focus on digital currency will open huge opportunities in Fintech, crypto and blockchain space. “Drone Shakti” program to promote start-ups on Drone Technology is another welcome step. Defence research is also opened for start-ups and 68% capital for procurement for defence will now be for domestic industry. This is very much in line with “Make in India” and such actions across other domains can help in creating the 6 million new jobs envisioned in the budget. Education sector is headed for a major disruption in the coming years. Digital university and announcement to setup AVGC taskforce will help us build capacity to serve domestic and global markets. E-passports and Special mobility zones are good opportunities for exploring futuristic technologies. Any efforts to fast track the Bharat Net optical fiber project will only accelerate the journey towards a $5 trillion economy. Some relief for the MSME and Service sector would have been appreciated as they are the most impacted during the pandemic times. Overall, a balanced budget showing commitment from GoI in building a Digital India.”
