PANAJI: Goa welcomed eight new Chartered Accountants to its fold recently after the CA Final exams were conducted in May 2022.
The successful candidates are: Shannon Eva Vaz from Quepem, whose mother was a teacher in Don Bosco Quepem School; Esha Girish Keni from Khorlim, Mapusa whose parents run a business; Sharad Narayan Kasarpalkar, whose mother is a homemaker; Chaitra Nagesh Shetti, whose father is a tax consultant and mother is a homemaker; Shambhavi Jayant Lawande, Marcela, whose father is assistant manager accounts in Geno Pharmaceuticals; Shivani Rajendra Naik from Ponda, whose father retired as Head of Finance at Alcon Group of Companies and mother is in Medical Profession; Elce Francisco Vaz from Quepem whose mother is a home-maker; and Ralph Menezes from Curtorim whose father is now retired and mother is employed in private sector; states a press release.
Chairman of Goa branch of ICAI CA Gaurav Kenkre said: “This is a very positive outcome for the state of Goa that so many students have qualified as Chartered Accountants form the state of Goa, in one attempt, since we know that the CA exams are normally very tough.”
Vice-Chairman, Thomas Andrade said: ” We are glad to see that the newly qualified CAs are from all parts of Goa. We hope that this will inspire local youth from across Goa to take up this profession.”
WICASA Chairman of Goa Branch CA Milind Shirodkar congratulated all, saying: “While some of the newly qualified CAs have parents from accounts/tax field, many have come from very humble backgrounds. CA course is one of the most affordable courses today across India.”
“Not only is the course affordable, students get stipend while learning at CA’s offices for three years, so they earn while they learn. The stipend too is now going to be doubled as per the revised proposed scheme,” stated secretary of Goa Branch CA, Vaibhav Bale.
Treasurer of Goa Branch CA Vishwanath Bhobe says: “Currently we are seeing huge demand and less supply for CAs in Goa. We have seen several private employers struggle to find CAs for their companies. These eight new CAs will be able to take advantage of this situation.”
Taxation Committee chairman of Goa Branch CA, Vinayak Dhumatkar welcomed them all to the profession and said: “We need young blood in our field and we will certainly involve all the new CAs in the activities of the Goa Branch.”
