GOA’S FARMERS & EXPORTERS ON TRACK FOR SUSTAINABLE AND PROSPEROUS FUTURE AS GOVT AIMS TO UNLOCK AGRI-EXPORT POTENTIAL

Goa’s agriculture sector seems set for bigger growth target as efforts are on to boost the export potential of the state. Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant recently chaired a productive meeting on ‘Unlocking Goa’s Agricultural Export Potential with APEDA and Jaivik Bharat,’ at Mantralaya-Porvorim.

Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, MLAs – Premendra Shet and Dr Deviya Rane, Chief Secretary, Director Agriculture, APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev, Secretary Agriculture Arun Kumar, were present for the meeting.

The key discussions included – APEDA’s role in promoting exports across 18 major agricultural product categories, Export data highlights: ₹27.90 billion (US$ 27.90 Bn) in agricultural exports for 2024-25, Organic certification system under NPOP and upcoming revisions benefiting Goan farmers, Goa’s top agricultural products and their export potential for FY 2024-25, status and growth of organic certification in Goa, way forward for enhancing organic exports and key upcoming events for Goa’s participation.

“Goa proudly stands as a naturally organic state and is set to form a dedicated cashew board to further boost agriculture. Together, we are paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future for Goa’s farmers and exporters!,” emphasised the Chief Minister.
