GOA’S SENIOR FACULTY UNDERGO INTENSIVE ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP TRAINING AT ISB MOHALI

The Directorate of Higher Education and the Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC) have successfully launched Batch 2, Phase 3 of the Academic Leadership Programme (ALP), a crucial initiative designed to equip senior faculty with enhanced skills in academic professionalism, governance, and technology integration.

The week-long programme was formally inaugurated at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali, by Dr. Aarushi Jain, Policy Director & Head, Government Affairs, BIPP, ISB, and Prof. Dr. Niyan Marchon, Professor & Program Director, Directorate Of Higher Education.

The workshop focusses on Strategic and Emotional Leadership. The core of Phase 3 is a rigorous seven-day workshop, scheduled from December 6-12, 2025, bringing together 30 experienced faculty from government, aided, law, and engineering institutions across Goa. The programme aims to strategically align Goa’s higher education institutions with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, fostering institutional excellence and strategic management.

The faculty for the workshop includes:
1. Prof. Rajeshwar Upadhyay (Dean, Academy of Applied Emotional Intelligence), covering leadership in a VUCA world, emotional intelligence, and global competencies.
2. Prof. Anjal Prakash (Clinical Associate Professor, BIPP), focusing on leadership through traditional Indian wisdom and innovative pedagogies.
3. Gayatri Das Sharma (Executive Coach & Visiting Faculty, ISB), leading sessions on strategic leadership and communication.
4.  Dr. Aarushi Jain Jain (Policy Director, ISB), covering strategic leadership and effective decision-making.

•Institutional Exposure Visit to Shimla:
Himachal Pradesh University (HPU): Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mahavir Singh, shared HPU’s academic vision. Discussions centered on the Right to Education, governance implications, HPU’s NEP 2020 initiatives, and strengthening research.
Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV): Principal Dr. Anurita Saxena showcased RKMV’s dynamic initiatives, including an AI course collaboration with C-DAC, the RKMV–PSU USA partnership, and the innovative Campus Mitras programme.

Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS): Participants toured the prestigious centre, exploring its rich academic heritage and research culture.

•Focus on Policy and Collaboration for Institutional Outcomes:
Dr. Aarushi Jain highlighted BIPP’s impactful collaboration with 17 state governments and the comprehensive MoU with the Government of Goa covering academic strengthening, policy support, and development of a state data portal. Dr. Niyan Marchon shared Goa’s strategic focus on NEP 2020 implementation, research goals for 2026, and emphasised the importance of the “art of follow-up” in achieving institutional outcomes.
