GOA’S TANISHA CRASTO BAGS GOLD & SILVER AT INFOSYS INTERNATIONAL CHALLENGE 2021

PANAJI: Goa’s Tanisha Crasto bagged gold and a silver medal in the mixed-doubles and women’s doubles events at Infosys India International Challenge 2021 Badminton Tournament organised by Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy in Bangalore.

The immensely talented 18-year-old Tanisha partnered Ishaan Bhatnagar from Chhattisgarh, to top the mixed-doubles event with a thrilling 21-16, 21-19 win over Sai Pratheek K and Gayatri Gopichand Pullela, in the six-day International tournament under the aegis of Badminton Association of India, at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence, Bengaluru.

In women’s doubles, Tanisha along with her India partner Rutuparna Panda went down to Treesa Jolly / Gayatri Gopichand 21-23, 14-21 to settle for silver medal.

“We congratulate Tanisha Crasto and her partners on their sensational performance in this tournament, which is the first major tournament held in India in the Senior Men and Women age category after a lengthy break. Apart from Tanisha and her partners, the interesting highlight of this championship was the large number of Junior players who emerged on the podium such as Unnati Hooda, Priyanshu Rajawat, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand while some of the senior names were upset in the earlier rounds, demonstrating the large pool of young talent that is there in India today which augurs well for future for India in this sport”, stated Sandeep Heble, secretary of Goa Badminton Association in his congratulatory message.
