PANAJI: Government College-Khandola got the better of hosts S.S.A. Govt. College of Arts & Commerce, Virnoda-Pernem in the final to win the Inter-College Kabaddi Championship.
Eight colleges from various parts of the state participated in the championship at SSA Govt College’s Multipurpose Hall.
In the finals, Govt. College Khandola emerged victorious over an injury-hit Govt. College Pernem team with a score of 36-24.
Earlier in the semi-finals, the Pernem college team defeated CES, Cuncolim 42-23, while Khandola college got the better of MES Zuarinagar 35-33.
The following individual prizes were awarded – Best defender: Sankalp Gad of Govt. College Pernem; Best raider: Aakash Singh of Govt. College Khandola; Player of the Tournament: Laxman Gaude of Govt. College Khandola.
Dr. Lucy James, Vice-Principal of the college, other senior faculty members and College Directors of Physical Education of the participating teams, were present at the event. All former Kabaddi players of the host college, were invited at the event and were felicitated.
The entire event was a grand success, and all participating teams and officials were spellbound with the international-level facility and platform provided for the event by SSA Govt. College Pernem, stated a press note.
