IDY 2025: INCLUSIVE CELEBRATION PROMOTES WELLNESS FOR ALL

In the spirit of unity, health, and holistic well-being; International Yoga Day 2025 celebration was organised jointly by the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Directorate of Civil Aviation, Department of Transport and Goa State Research Foundation at the Market Complex in Porvorim.

The yoga session, conducted by trained instructors from Art of Living, witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials and staff across all collaborating departments. The event emphasised the role of yoga in building a more inclusive and healthier society, where every individual—regardless of ability—can find balance and inner peace.

The event was graced by Guruprasad Pawaskar, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Varsha Naik, Director, Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities,
Mahadev Araundekar, Director, Directorate of Civil Aviation, Prof. Malapati Janarthanam, Chairperson, Goa State Research Foundation, Dr Savio Falleiro, Managing Director, Goa State Research Foundation, Taha Haaziq, Secretary, Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities,
Nancy Fernandes, Deputy Director, Directorate of Transport and Dr Mriselda Monteiro, Deputy Director, Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

Speaking on the occasion,Pawaskar stated:
“ Yoga is not just a practice; it is a way of life that fosters harmony between mind, body, and soul. Today’s celebration reinforces our collective commitment to creating inclusive spaces where every individual, including persons with disabilities, can access the benefits of physical and mental well-being. I commend all departments for coming together to celebrate the spirit of inclusivity and wellness.”
