PANAJI: As part of the initiative of ‘Care of Old with Heart of Gold’, Governor of Goa P.S.Sreedharan Pillai, distributed monetary grant to IMA Goa State and its 6 local branches; on Thursday.
P.S.Sreedharan Pillai in his address, highlighted his close association with Indian Medical Association (IMA) in his home state of Kerala and expressed happiness to note that the theme for the year was on – Care of Geriatric population. He congratulated the doctors of IMA Goa and work done by Goa Cancer Society. He also expressed his desire to be of help in future endeavours of IMA Goa State as well as Goa Cancer Society.
The function was organised by IMA Goa State along with Goa Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Goa Cancer Society; at GCCI Hall here.
According to a press release, the endeavour behind the initiative is “to help the poor and the needy geriatric patients to deliver medical care and imporve quality of life.”
Dr Shekhar Salkar, past president of IMA & joint-secretary of Goa Cancer Society, welcomed the gathering followed by the unveiling of the IMA Goa State 2022 logo by P.S.Sreedharan Pillai.
Dr Rufino Monteiro, President of IMA Goa State presented the report of activities of IMA Goa State and appraised the public about the logo and theme for the year ‘Care of the Old with a heart of Gold‘. Dr. Salkar joint-secretary of Goa Cancer Society sensitised all members on the history and its past achievements.
The monetary aid in the form of cheque, were distributed to Goa Cancer Society – which was recieved by its vice-president Dr Suresh Shetye.
IMA Goa State’s cheque was recieved by Dr Monteiro, while the grants of six local branches of IMA Goa- were recieved by president of each branch at the hands of the Governor. Rs 1 Lakh in aid, was granted to each individual beneficiary.
Dr Amol Tilve, Secretary of IMA Goa, proposed the vote of thanks while Dr Amol Mahaldar anchored the function. Dr Mahesh Naik, Secretary of Goa Cancer Society; Ralph De Souza, Chairman GCCI, and Dr Deepak Murthy of Goa Cancer Society, were also present.
