PANAJI: Goan Varta defeated Tarun Bharat in the final of SJAG inter-press season-ball cricket tournament organised in association with GCA at Porvorim.
In the final, Goa Varta won by 7 wickets. Batting first, TB scored 49 runs in the alloted 6 overs. In reply, GV chased the target in just 4 overs, losing only 3 wickets.
Sports Minister Govind Gaude was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of GCA secretary Vipul Phadke, GCA director of coaching & cricket operations Prakash Mayenkar, SJAG president Mahesh Gaonkar, among others. Following individual prizes were awarded – Man of the match – Gangaram Sawant, Best Batsman – Durgesh Naik, Best Bowler – Sachin Dalvi, best Wicket-keeper – Anil Kalekar, Man of the tournament – Kedar Shirgaonkar, Best Fielder – Umesh Zarmekar, Disciplined Team – AIR-DD.
